Small stories for shared moments
StoryTalkKit makes printable story packs for adults to share with young children. Each pack is built around one short, everyday story: a ball that rolls under a bench, a picnic that needs packing, a plan that changes when it rains. The stories are simple on purpose, so there is plenty of room to look, point, talk and tell them again.
What is in a pack
Every pack brings a complete story and its activities together:
- A wordless story that lets the pictures do the talking.
- A short-text story with one possible way to tell it.
- Picture sequencing cards to put the story back in order.
- Retelling and activity pages, including low-ink versions.
- An adult guide with prompts, vocabulary and ideas for everyday life.
Files come as A4 and US Letter PDFs in seven languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese (Taiwan) and Brazilian Portuguese. Buy any story on its own, or get every story, including the ones we add later, with All-Access.
Who it is for
Parents and caregivers can print a story and share it in a few minutes, with no special training. Speech therapists, teachers and early-years educators can use the same materials for sequencing, narrative and vocabulary work, and share marked home-practice pages with the families they support.
Children join in however suits them: looking together, pointing, gesturing, choosing a picture or using words. The number of scenes describes the story, not a child's age or ability.
Who makes it
StoryTalkKit is an independent project, written, designed and maintained by one person. New stories are added over time, and every file carries a version number so corrections are easy to track.
These are educational materials for sharing with an adult. They are not a therapy program and do not replace individual professional advice.
